Let’s set up with Internet.

Some years down the line, i cleared Masters in English. I could not decide my career.... My mom wanted me to clear NET and become a professor. Some others guided me to step into the unknown world of IT. I was tossed between the two things; I could not decide my career.... As i already traveled a long way in the academics field to clear NET and become a professor was not too far. But to start a fresh with computer was not an easy task for me.... At this juncture.. i had my first lesson on internet... I don't know why at that hour....I sensed ... i can keep "the option of becoming a professor" for another day!

"Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back."

As i promised that i shall share with you every little thing that i have learned; let me now give you a briefing of my first introduction to the world of Internet:

3 things i learned in my first internet class

The first thing that comes to your mind when you think of Internet is Email? right ?

  • The first day I visited cyber café I learned how to send an Email. By now it is an easy game for me. If you are new to this field you can learn this from http://webfoot.com/advice/email.top.php.

  • Next I got a feel of online chatting. I had great fun in visiting the yahoo chat room and chatting with people whom I do not know. Online chatting has become such common; that numerous web site have come up with different chatting options by now. However yahoo messenger or the gtalk are the most familiar ones i believe.

  • Another thing that I learned on that very day was web browsing. Do you know what a web browser is? It is basically the Internet Explorer, or the Mozilla Firefox that you use in your system.

Some basic info:

  1. What is an Internet?
Basically it is a medium that bridges the gap between people, the world over.

  2. How does it function?
The system is based on networking. A series of computer networks transmits data using the Internet Protocol (a conventional mode of communication that enables the connection between two connecting points). The entire system is executed through packet switching.
The system is based on networking. A series of computer networks transmits data using the Internet Protocol (a conventional mode of communication that enables the connection between two connecting points). The entire system is executed through packet switching.

Packet switching: A process in which a chunk of data is transmitted through a certain path in the network, in particular, between two intersecting points (nodes) from where data links are connected with other traffic. A better understanding of the internet use is possible if you can go though http://www.livinginternet.com/ttoc_site.html.

  3. What is a web browser?
It is basically a software application that helps you to get acquainted with information typically found on the web. Information on the web are basically information related to music, videos, text, images, and other information. Some of the browsers currently used are the Internet Explorer and the Mozilla Firefox. You may also use Safari, Opera, Flock or AOL Explorer. Browsers are also used to access information provided by web servers in private networks or content in file systems.

  4. What is a web server?
Web server is actually a computer program that accepts HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol i.e. a communication protocol) from clients. The clients are known as web browsers. In the process the web server also serve the clients with HTTP response along with possible data contents; usually (web pages; HTML documents and linked objects).

  5. What is a private network?
Private Network uses private IP address space. Some computers are allocated addresses from this address space and whenever required they can communicate with other computer in a internal network.

  6. What is a file system?
File Systems: While using the computer if you want to store content related information you can use data storage devices such as your hard disk or CDRom.

    However, after this lesson

"I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

ur blog looks cool but sexy. Late but good start indeed. Now this is ur web identity and web presence. Keep it up. Hope to see some nice informative stuffs that you learn and make us aware of it but not ending up with mere romantics poems and thoughts (which is common in most blogs maintained by female bloggers). :)
